Stikbot – A Closer Look

Create your own animated movie on your tablet or smartphone and share it with the Stikbot Zanimation Studio.

Stikbot helps your little ones to develop their creativity and imagination and transforms them into a true filmmaker. It is aimed at everyone interested in new technologies and role-playing, video games or cinema, and for people active on social media, but also for children who simply like to tell stories…

These small articulated and coloured figurines are very easy to install, they can stick on almost any surface thanks to their suction cups on their hands and feet. Their design allows them to be handled in many ways, their limbs, torso and even neck can be positioned differently, which makes the possibilities infinite!

Become a Real Filmmaker!

Place your smartphone on the tripod (provided) and have your stikbot pose in front of the green background. Take a picture every time you change position and the app will do the rest. Watch your film and share it on social media. Will you be the new Spielberg?

The free Stikbot Studio app, available on iOS and Android, allows you to create mini animation films with a stop-motion technique. This is an animation technique derived from cartoons that consists of taking pictures frame by frame and assembling them, giving the illusion of seeing objects in movements. It is useful to know that Stikbot animates better with lower frame rates. The app is programmed to shoot 10 frames per second, so for example 100 frames are worth 10 seconds of video. With the application you can also add music and sound effects to the film, making your possibilities of creations almost endless and very personal.

Videos created through the Stikbot Studio application can be shared with the Stikbot fan community on social media using the #Stikbot hashtag. Everyone, from absolutely anywhere in the world, can discover your original and imaginative videos.

Check out the introductory video of the Stikbots official YouTube channel. Their channel possesses hundreds of original videos that you can watch and learn from to create other fascinating stories.

Top 5 Clemens Bears

Clemens Bears is a brand stuffed full of beautifully handmade bears dating all the way back to 1948. Hans Clemens, a German man from Kirchardt, began his business shortly after the Second World War. He had recently lost everything, his home and manufacturing business, and was looking for a new way to make an income.

Teddy Bears weren’t readily available during World War II, so Hans took it upon himself to try and bring teddies back, using old army blankets to do so! Every bear was lovingly and individually handmade, and still is to this day! Since the 40s Clemens has grown into the successful brand it is today, producing original bears composed of intricate parts to the highest possible quality. The bear’s appearances may have changed over the years, but the quality and care taken when making these lovable creatures has not!

Clemens Bears have made the long journey from their hometown of Germany to join us right here on Toy Street, and today we’re looking at our five favourite bears!

1. Teddy Konstantin

One of only 223 worldwide, Teddy Konstantin is made from the finest beige mohair and wool blend. He’s jointed in five places, so he can move his arms and legs, bringing him to life! Konstantin has an endearing face with a cute hand-stitched nose and mouth. He proudly wears a beautiful polka dot bow around his neck alongside the Clemens Bears trademark tag.

Hermann Bears: The Collectable Bear

Hermann Bears or Teddy Hermann are one of the oldest manufacturers of plush toys. The company was founded in 1912, in Germany, and still remains an institution in the production of teddy bears.

At Teddy Hermann, you won’t find just your ordinary teddy bear, but the original teddy bear, the very idea of the perfect teddy bear for toddlers, and a real ‘madeleine de Proust moment’ for grown ups. That is why, as they grow up, many people keep their passion for these bears and decide to collect them. Especially since over the decades, the company has managed to keep its reputation whilst diversifying and offering three ever-wider and more original ranges.

Teddy Hermann Original

This range includes mohair bears and limited edition teddies for collectors and enthusiasts. You can find bears of all kinds and themes, including a few roles you may not expect a bear to have like the Halloween Witch, or as a professional like this very cute Sailor Boy Marten. In this collection, there’s something to satisfy all emotions and universes. Collectors should find their happiness in this incredible bunch of bears, all different and unique in their own way.

Our personal favourite: the Traditional Teddy Bear With Growler. This choice may not be the most original, but this classic and traditional teddy bear is a must-have that reminds us of the best childhood memories, when one used to take refuge in the arms of their favourite plush animal.

Teddy Hermann Miniature

The plush toys in this range are, as the name implies, miniature. These plush animals measure no more than 14cm, and are the ideal companions for lovers of small plush toys, or even collectors. These miniature animals will find their place in your child’s arms, as well as in your home, for a cute and regressive decorative touch. Here again, each cuddly toy has its own personality and can tell a different story, such as the very original and chic Bluebelle, or this character from the Commedia dell’arte, the Harlequin green.

Our personal favourite: it is difficult to choose because their grumpy faces are absolutely adorable. But, the Lucky Teddy With Shamrock with his sulky pout, melts our hearts, and we think he would make the perfect lucky charm!

Teddy Hermann Collection

Finally, this last range features an even greater variety of plush animals, no longer just bears, but animals of all kinds: from the farm, the countryside, even the jungle, thus offering a world of possibilities. This collection will satisfy children and lovers of softness. In this collection, there are no limits, and your children can have fun with all kinds of new friends, from the joyful Ladybird Daisy, to the shy Penguin Axel, and the most loyal friend the Hedgehog Piksy.

Our personal favourite: With such realism, the field of possibilities is endless, but the different animals of the jungle, like the lion with his majestic mane, and his beautiful lioness who encourage us to imagine incredible stories of them in their natural habitat!

Now that you know everything about the Hermann Bears brand, why not venture into its vast world of plush toys that are as realistic as they are adorable.

The brand has something for everyone, for adults and children alike. Shop the collection!

Hasbro – New at Toy Street!

Monopoly, NERF, My Little Pony, Furby, Twister – just a few of the games and toys which Hasbro have in their repertoire. If you haven’t heard of these then you may have led a very sheltered childhood or are currently living under a rock, either way you need to get to know Hasbro and it’s amazing range of toys and games.

And what easier way to do that than right here on Toy Street? Because that’s right, you’ve guessed it! We are very proud to announce we now stock Hasbro toys and games!

Hasbro History

Hasbro – named after it’s founders the Hassenfeld Brothers – first opened it’s doors in 1923 Rhode Island. They originally began selling textile remnants, but soon moved onto pencil boxes and school supplies. It wasn’t until the 1940s that Hasbro began bringing out toys, it’s first being doctors and nurses kits, and soon after the well known Mr. Potato Head was born – but not as we know him today. The original Mr. Potato head came as a kit which included plastic feet, hands, ears, mouths, eyes, noses, and more; the potato head itself was a real potato and was not included in the kit, this had to be provided yourself.

Over the next 20 years Hasbro continued to release toys and launched the first ever action figure with the introduction of G.I. Joe. In the 70s, with the rise of Star Wars the Hassenfeld brothers company made a range of Star Wars toys which were hugely popular and led to their immense growth throughout the 80s. Hasbro soon became the biggest toy company with the launches of My Little Pony and Transformers and then Tonka and Furby in the 90s.

Over the years Hasbro has only grown and continues to innovate and lead the way in the toy industry. Hasbro has partnered with film studios such as LucasFilm, Marvel Studios and Dreamworks and has become much more than just a game and toy retailer.

Play-Doh, a proud member of the Toy Hall of Fame is one of Hasbro’s most well known products. It’s a putty-like substance that was originally made to clean residue from wallpaper, but has now evolved into a popular children’s toy. Play-Doh can be moulded into any shape imaginable and comes in a variety of colours. If you’ve smelt Play-Doh you’ll know it has a very specific scent which has now been trademarked and made into a perfume!

Board Games

Hasbro take family game night to the next level with their fantastic range. Monopoly may just be Hasbro’s most famous board game with over 1000 different versions from classic Monopoly to Monopoly Gamer. The earliest known version of Monopoly was called The Landlord’s Game and was designed by an American lady named Elizabeth Magie, the game was first patented in 1904 but could have existed as early as 1904. • Build a den – One of our personal favourites. There’s nothing more satisfying than building a cosy den in the living room which you can then curl up in and watch your favourite movie!

  • Go camping – Take a trip to the gorgeous English countryside and have a camp out for a couple of nights. Toast marshmallows on an open fire, tell ghost stories and enjoy nature. Or – if you like your home comforts – set up a tent in the garden!

Throwback Thursday – Power Rangers

Every child in the 90’s wanted to join the mighty Power Rangers. They were one of the biggest crazes of the early 1990’s and had everything from TV shows, films and toys.

History of the Power Rangers

The first glimpse of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was in the form of a TV show back in 1993, which was first released in America. Created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, the show was an adaptation of a Japanese TV show called ‘Kyotyu Sentai Zyuranger’ with stock footage of this series being used in the early Power Ranger series.

The show followed six teenagers who were given the ability to morph into fighting superheroes called the ‘Power Rangers’ and were provided with a variety of weapons to fight evil aliens that were looking to take over the world. Each Power Ranger had their own coloured super hero suit as follows:

  • Jason – The Red Ranger and the leader of the group.
  • Trini – The Yellow Ranger.
  • Zack – The Black Ranger – the second in command.
  • Kimberley – The Pink Ranger.
  • Billy – The Blue Ranger.
  • Thomas – The Green Ranger.

In addition to the TV Series a wide range of Mighty Morphin Power Ranger video games were released for a variety of consoles, with the first being released on Sega Mega Drive and Game Boy in 1994. Following the three TV series that aired between 1993 – 1995 came the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers feature film which was released in 1995. The film made $66.4 million in the box office and was fourth in the highest earned film released that week.

Merchandise

Off the back of the hugely successful TV series’ and films came a whole load of Power Ranger merchandise. The most successful and well-remembered piece of Power ranger merchandise was in the form of action figures. Each individual Power Range could be bought in action figure form along with their weapon of choice. If you had them all you were the most popular kid school.

As well as the Power Rangers themselves you could also buy their alien enemies, allowing you to battle it out in the comfort of your own home or the school playground. Power Ranger merchandise was everywhere, on lunchboxes, t-shirts, pencil cases, you name it you could probably get a Power Ranger on it.

Modern Day Power Rangers

Power Rangers are still going strong today with films and video games still being released. The most recent film was released into cinemas backs in March 2017 and was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in August of the same year. As well as the films, video games are also still being produced including an iOS and Android game which was released in 2017 as well as ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle’ which was released on PlayStation and Xbox again in 2017.

There are also a wide range of Power Rangers merchandise still available in most high street retailers which are much more advanced that the original small action figures. Power Rangers are by no means dead and buried just yet.
