Steiff have decided to release a series of ‘endangered species’ characters, as a way to highlight the growing problem of decline in the numbers of these species populations. The idea is that by bringing awareness, families will educate themselves together, on how to preserve and create a better environment. The Humboldt Penguin resides on the Pacific coast or Peru and Northern Chile. It is estimated that only 3,330 – 6000 adults remain. Hummi is 35cm / 13.7″ tall and non jointed. He has been sewn from two luxuriously soft and dense pushes, in white and glossy black, with a pinky peach for his breed recognised marking. He has a faux suede, brushed cotton for his webbed feet and beak, that have both been enhanced by airbrush shading and defintion, even his two tone brown safety eyes, have not been left untouched. This totally snugglesome penguin is gorgeously squidgy soft, gently reminding you of his plight with every cuddle.
