Cobi WWII 3135: V-1 Flying Bomb (FI 103) scale 1:35 (265 Pieces)
The V-1 Flying Bomb (Fieseler Fi 103) set in 1:35 scale will allow you to create one of the most groundbreaking inventions of World War II – the V-1 rocket, also known as the “flying bomb”. The V1 was designed by German engineer Fritz Gosslau and was the first weapon to combine the features of an aircraft and a missile, becoming the foundation for later ballistic missiles. Powered by a jet engine, the V-1 reached speeds of up to 640 km/h and had a range of 250 km, allowing attacks on targets in Great Britain. The first attacks on London took place in the summer of 1944, and the rocket used a simple odometer-based navigation system, which allowed it to reach its target precisely. Production of the V-1 took place primarily in Germany, in dedicated factories in Peenemünde, and later in other secret locations across occupied Europe. In addition to London and the coast of England, V-1 rockets were used to bomb cities such as Antwerp and Lille. The V-1 was part of the German “V” retaliatory weapons program and served as a prototype for later rockets, such as the V-2. Although less effective than the V-2, the V-1 rocket had enormous terrorist potential. After the war, this technology had a significant impact on the development of ballistic missiles in the USA and the USSR.
